eremiah is ex-military. National Guard. He's also trained in martial arts, and used to instruct while in the Guard. Since leaving the Guard he's not looked back.
Police work was not for him, he didn't like the grind, and the rules and politics which he felt all too often could, and did, get in the way of the law. So he never applied, instead he took his knowledge to Security. Security one day turned into an errand for a client, to "convince" her to stop cheating on her husband, and perhaps encourage her lover to leave her alone as well. Jeremiah handled it in a more subtle way than was hoped for, and got grief for not breaking the guys legs. He quit security, and became a PI.
Jeremiah has a dogged determination when something comes up. He could easily have been Ahab in Moby Dick single-mindedly hunting down the white whale to the detriment of everything else. This quality makes him a great investigator. It also can get him in trouble.
He also has a temper, but not a violent one. More of an impulsive one. Get him angry enough and he might not think through his next move – that might involve punching you, but wouldn't necessarily. Most of the time though, he keeps his anger in check.
Most of the time Jeremiah plays down his skills and intelligence, to keep people off guard. He's got a sharp wit, and nothing gets past him.
